Hive Design Group is a Midvale-based architecture studio with John licensed in 24 states, built around collaborative design, practical decision-making and direct access to experienced leadership.
A Working Relationship That Became a Firm.
John Simianer and Peyton Wunderli worked side-by-side for nearly three years before launching Hive Design Group in 2019. Now approaching a decade as coworkers, business partners and collaborators, they share a belief that good architecture depends on open discussion, strong technical habits and a willingness to let the best idea win—regardless of where it comes from.
Today, Hive’s work is centered on multifamily housing, townhomes, mixed-use development and the commercial and amenity spaces that support them. Our operating model is intentional: clients work directly with firm leadership, decisions stay close to the people doing the work and collaboration does not disappear after the proposal.

Leadership
John Simianer
Owner · Principal Architect · Licensed in 24 states
John leads architectural direction, site design, feasibility and massing strategy, client relationships, municipal coordination and senior project oversight. He is especially effective at quickly translating development goals and jurisdictional constraints into viable site and building concepts.
Peyton Wunderli
Owner · Director of Design
Peyton leads design development, BIM execution, project coordination, Revit and Autodesk strategy, and workflow improvement. He helps teams turn complex requirements into clear model and documentation systems, including 2D-to-3D transitions, standards, implementation and training.
An Integrated Team Structured Around Each Project.
Hive assembles and coordinates the disciplines each project actually requires. Depending on scope, that may include structural, civil, landscape, MEP, fire-protection, energy or other specialty consultants. The team can scale without moving design leadership, client communication or technical accountability away from Hive.
